Serious Signs That You May Have Memory Loss: Is it Time to See Your Doctor

If you suspect you may be a person tending towards memory loss, there are a number of serious signs you should not ignore. Be honest with yourself, others and your doctor, as your health status is at stake.

Do you know what the signs of memory loss are? Perhaps you are aware of a few symptoms, or indicators.

The article entitled Alzheimer’s Disease: Ten Warning Signs” lists ten serious signs that may indicate you have memory loss. These include the following: memory loss that affects day-to-day function, difficulty performing familiar tasks, problems with language, disorientation of time and place, poor or decreased judgment, problems with abstract thinking, misplacing things, changes in mood and behavior, changes in personality and loss of initiative.

Note that signs of memory loss are not always symptomatic of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Signs of memory loss may show up for other reasons including advancing age, stress, vitamin deficiency, depression, malnutrition, jet lag, fatigue, excessive use or abuse of nicotine, alcohol, drugs or other substances. They may be the result of a blood clot, stroke or a head injury.

You will likely be the first to recognize you are having problems with your memory, in your daily life. Perhaps others may mention it to you. Do not be offended if it seems that others are interfering in your life, as they are probably concerned about you and your health. They are most likely trying to help you and are willing to assist you.

Write down the symptoms, as well as the date and time of day that you experience them.

Rather than dismissing serious, signs of memory loss, be aware that by reporting them to our doctor when you initially notice them, you may be able to have your medical status assessed immediately and be able to obtain appropriate medical advice or medication, with respect to the specific areas of difficulty in your life.

You may need to undergo medical tests first, to increase the accuracy of your diagnosis. This is important in order to rule out other, possible disease processes that may affect your entire future.

You play a very important role with respect to our own health. Thus, making positive, proactive decisions with regard to your own health is vital.

In order to be a nurturing person in the lives of others you love, taking care of yourself and your own health is vital, as it helps to ensure the ones for whom you bear responsibility are taken care of, as well.
